QNet to expand in Sarawak


QNet (M) Sdn Bhd, a direct selling company, is set to kick off a major expansion programme in Sarawak, with the opening of an office in Kuching this September.

QNet's general manager V. Navaratnam said today the company, a pioneer in international E-commerce, was confident that sales would grow by some 30 per cent this year, especially as Sarawak had become a major market for its wellness products.

"This is why we are also kicking off a training programme to increase the number of our Independent Representatives (IRs) in Sarawak from 8,000 to 15,000 by the end of this year,” he said in a statement in conjunction with its product showcase at Crown Square in Kuching, where about 1,000 people signed up as IRs and learnt more about QNet’s E-commerce-based network marketing business.

Its wellness products include Ole Olive Leaf Extract, Fibre Fit and NutriSky while its skin care range offer has Physio Radiance.

Other popular products are its Amezcua harmonised energy wellness range, the Bernhard H. Mayer luxury timepiece and jewellery collection, the natural energy Himalayan Crystal Collection, and In-Voice, which provides all-in-one telecommunications solutions.

Navaratnam said the huge turnout today was a trend that was replicated throughout the country whenever QNet held its training programmes.

The uncertain economic conditions prevailing in the country has encouraged many fresh graduates to start their own network marketing business as opposed to working in a company for a fixed salary, he said.

Statistically, he said, 90 per cent of all start-up businesses failed within the first two years but QNet’s IRs had bucked this trend and recorded a significantly higher success rate.

"One reason for this is that they are guided by a mentor and trained by a team of professionals," he said, adding that in the Philippines, India and some African countries, those who earned an equivalent of just RM250 a month have now been armed with the potential to earn higher incomes through their business.

Recently, the city of Kuala Lumpur hosted the Asian Bloggers and Social Media conference at the Berjaya Times Square hotel that saw nearly 500 bloggers and social media enthusiasts gather for two days for a great lineup of speakers from various digital media.

QNet was associated with this conference as the official e-commerce partner and a delegation from QNet’s communication and marketing teams attended the 2-day conference. Some of the key topics discussed included law and ethics in cyberspace, managing a brand’s online reputation, profit-making on the world's leading blogging platform – Wordpress, difference between a journalist and a blogger, and the importance of developing social media strategies and objectives for one's brand before jumping into the social media scene.


QNet’s executive chairperson Donna Imson was one of the speakers at this event and her topic was very relevant to QNet’s business - Social Media Conversations: How to gain trust and form relationship with your community.

What set her apart from the rest of the speakers who were all experts in some form of new media was her candid confession that she was the least qualified to be speaking at a social media conference – “I am not an expert in social media. In fact, it was my daughter who helped me open my facebook and twitter accounts and what I have learnt about social media is completely organic...through trial and error.”

She pointed out that the network marketing business was a high-touch business. People need to gain trust which doesn’t happen overnight. It takes weeks and months of personal meetings before people trust you and the online channel is no different.

From her personal experience with interactions on social media platforms, she has found that the best way to engage with people is to communicate your values in a simple and authentic way. One of the early lessons she learnt was that there is no such thing as a public versus private persona on the internet! The lines simply cannot be drawn and that was one of the reasons she decided to open up her private facebook account to business partners and customers of QNet, in addition to family and friends. She recalled how surprised she was when her 90 year old grandmother told her how up to date she was with the extended family thanks to facebook!

She spoke about QNet’s various social media outreach programs and how we have managed to create a community within a community. “It’s about finding that right balance between high-touch and high-tech that helps us connect with our customers. Today, when someone throws up a questions or brings up an issues on one of our online forums, even before the company can respond to it, other customers jump in to answer or help the person with their query.”



The keynote address at the conference was delivered by the 4th prime minister of Malaysia Tun Dr.Mahathir, himself a prominent blogger. He gave some thought-provoking ideas on how to stay relevant by using the medium as an engagement tool to develop a relationship with the audience. His message was simple and to the point – “Be responsible and always tell the truth.”

Dato’ Seri Tony Fernandes of Air Asia was the other popular speaker who spoke about how the internet has played a key role in the growth of Air Asia in the last 8 years. While he has a slightly neglected blog, he said he was very active on Twitter and had over 30,000 followers!

Grand Success at QNet’s First NSS and Product Exhibition in Abu Dhabi

Friday, 6 August 2010, was an important day for QNet as we organised QNet’s first Networking Seminar Series (NSS) in Abu Dhabi, the UAE. Taking place at the India Social and Cultural Centre, more than 1,400 networkers and hundreds of locals attended the event, which also showcased the range of QNet products.

When the doors opened at 5.30 pm, a great rush of excited networkers poured onto the event hall, to explore all the product displays and exhibitions waiting for them. Being able to see and touch real products from all product lines, whether consumable products, luxury & collectiblesor wellness and energy items, gave them a confidence boost in the high product quality and the integrity of QNet. Apart from the products, networkers were also able to purchase business tools and promotional materials that could help enhance their business.

Product Training kicked off at 7.00 pm with our popular Product Trainer, Mr Juergen Michel, who guided the attentive networkers through an ‘all-you-need-to-know’ session about QNet products. Besides Mr Michel, the V Managing Director Mr Pathman Senathirajah and VP Adly Hassan Hamed were also on stage with an incredibly inspirational speeches. The other two VIPs who were present at the event were Firdan Consultancy CEO, Mr Abdel Rahman Al Firdan, and The Observer CEO, Mr Michael Sander.

Vijay Eswaran kembali ke Malaysia

PETALING JAYA 12 Ogos – Qi Group, syarikat e-niaga global dari di Hong Kong yang diterajui usahawan terkenal Datuk Vijay Eswaran, sedang menimbangkan mengambil alih hartanah strategik di Malaysia di bidang liburan, hospitaliti dan industri berkaitan kesihatan termasuk menubuhkan hospital pakar mampu bayar.

Kumpulan itu juga membeli bangunan bernilai RM60 juta di Seksyen 8 di sini sebagai ibu pejabat serantaunya dan membina pusat peranginan Endau-Rompin, sebagai menandakan komitmen dan kemasukan semula usahawan itu ke Malaysia secara besar-besaran.

Ibu pejabat serantau itu akan menyatukan operasinya di Indonesia, Singapura, Thailand dan Filipina, kata beliau kepada Bernama di sini.

Vijay yang muncul di kalangan tokoh kewangan Hong Kong sejak sedekad yang lepas, berkata sebagai konglomerat global, kumpulan itu akan terus mencari hartanah terbaik di Thailand, Mauritius, Maldives dan Kenya selain Malaysia bagi mengembangkan perniagaan liburan dan hospitalitinya.

Sungguhpun begitu, tumpuan semasanya adalah berpindah ke Malaysia secara besar-besaran dan membina rekod prestasi dengan institusi kewangan.

“Kami mampu membeli bangunan ibu pejabat itu menggunakan dana sendiri. Tetapi, kami telah mendapatkan 60 peratus pembiayaan bagi membina kredibiliti kewangan dan nama baik di negara ini,” katanya.

Qi Group, yang bermula sebagai syarikat e-niaga pada 1998, kini berkembang sebagai satu konglomerat pelbagai negara dengan enam perniagaan utama — telekomunikasi, gaya hidup dan liburan, barang mewah dan benda-benda yang boleh dikumpul, latihan dan pengurusan persidangan, pembangunan hartanah dan perniagaan jualan langsung dengan anak syarikat di 30 negara.

Vijay berkata, kehadiran kumpulan secara berterusan dan dipertingkatkan juga disokong oleh kepercayaan terhadap potensi ekonomi negara ini dan keperluan untuk membina keperibadian tempatannya sendiri.

Usaha sama besar Qi yang sedang dilaksanakan di Malaysia ialah projek pusat peranginan Endau-Rompin di Pahang yang meliputi kawasan kira-kira 80 hektar dengan kos pembangunan AS$250 juta (RM785 juta).

Perancangan dilakukan untuk melaksanakan rancangan jangka panjang yang akan menyediakan satu marina, pembangunan bercampur-campur, villa, satu hotel butik serta pusat budaya dan warisan apabila ia beroperasi di dalam tempoh lima tahun akan datang, katanya.

Kawasan itu dibeli pada harga awal AS$28.1 juta (RM70 juta).

Kumpulan itu juga akan menubuhkan lima hospital pakar swasta di dalam tempoh tiga tahun dengan pelaburan RM18 hingga RM20 juta setiap satu dengan menyediakan perkhidmatan perubatan mampu bayar di dalam pelbagai bidang seperti pembedahan, dermatologi, operasi kecemasan dan klinik am.

Salah sebuah hospital itu akan dibina di luar kawasan bandar seperti Banting di mana tanahnya telah diperoleh.

Hospital empat tingkat dengan 40-60 katil itu, dijangka beroperasi sepenuhnya dalam tempoh dua tahun. Kawasan berpotensi yang lain termasuk Kluang dan Kuantan.

Katanya: “Kami berharap hospital mampu bayar itu dapat menarik pelancongan perubatan ke Malaysia kos yang bakal ditawarkan jauh lebih murah dari Singapura. Ia sesuai dengan strategi pelancongan kita.”

Vijay berkata, syarikat itu juga sedang bekerjasama dengan kerajaan negeri Pahang untuk membina Pekan Istana, iaitu satu istana klasik, yang dibina tanpa menggunakan sebatang paku pun atau penggunaan simen dan terletak di kawasan istana.

“Malaysia tidak menggunakan budaya dan warisan seperti mana yang digunakan di Bali dan Thailand (dan) lebih-lebih lagi budaya di Pahang, Terengganu dan Kelantan yang mempunyai perbezaan ketara dengan pantai barat,” kata Vijay.

Vijay, yang berasal dari Terengganu, teruja untuk memperkenalkan budaya dan warisan negeri itu yang kaya dengan seni bina Melayu pantai timur dan bukan setakat keindahan pantai dan lautannya.

Sebaik sahaja Pusat Peranginan Endau-Rompinnya beroperasi dalam tempoh lima tahun lagi, kumpulan itu juga merancang membangunkan tasik yang terkenal dengan lagendanya, bagi digandingkan dengan kawasan hutan warisan yang berusia 100 juta tahun iaitu Endau-Rompin.

“Kami akan memulihara paya bakau dan persekitaran hartanahnya dan membina kabin menggunakan tiang bagi memulihara keseimbangan ekologi projek itu,” katanya.

Mengenai pulangan daripada pelaburan itu, katanya, ia memberikan pulangan yang menguntungkan kerana pusat peranginan itu sendiri akan dikunjungi oleh pasaran pelancongan khusus dari kelab percutiannya yang mempunyai data pelanggan enam juta pelanggan di seluruh dunia.

Kumpulan telah membawa masuk pelancong ke Malaysia, Thailand, Bali dan Timur Tengah.

Bagi tujuan itu, kumpulan itu juga sedang mencari sebuah hotel bandar di Kuala Lumpur yang boleh menjadi tapak perhentian sebelum bertolak dan menikmati keindahan di Endau-Rompin dan Tasik Chini.

Kumpulan itu sedang berunding dengan dua hotel, “tetapi kami mungkin tidak akan mengambil alih kedua-duanya. Sebuah terletak di Jalan Sultan Ismail di KL dan sebuah lagi di Petaling Jaya berdekatan Amcorp Mall” yang menempatkan operasi semasa Qi.

“Kami juga sedang mengkaji hartanah di Mauritius, Kenya bagi safari, dan satu pulau di Maldives bagi menambah kepada pelan pembesaran kami,” katanya.

Di pusat peranginan miliknya di pulau Koh Samui di Thailand, katanya kumpulan itu sedang membina hotel mewah kedua di sepanjang pantai Boh Put pulau itu.

Majlis pecah tanah pusat peranginan kedua di Koh Samui akan dilaksanakan pada bulan ini.

Vijay berkata, kumpulan itu juga merancang mendapatkan hartanah di Sabah dan Sarawak, kemungkinan di pulau di luar pantai Sandakan serta di Balik Pulau, Pulau Pinang.”

Katanya, usaha mencari hartanah yang mempunyai lokasi yang baik tidak akan berhenti bagi keperluan syarikat itu. – Bernama
